Tennis Rules & Guidelines

Tennis Rules

  1. All play shall be governed by the United States Lawn Tennis Association rules.

  2. Senior, Junior, Young Professional and Social Family members (adults) shall have equal preference in the use of the tennis courts.

  3. Junior players are the children of Full Golf and Social Members. They may use the courts at any time subject to the priority of dues’ paying adults and lesson schedules. When juniors are playing and adult members arrive ready for play, unless there is a court open, the juniors will promptly finish their game and relinquish the court to the adult members.

  4. Play during open tennis will be limited to one hour if others are waiting.

  5. A sign-in sheet will be provided to register and post the time you start. This is so persons arriving after the courts are occupied will know approximately how long they must wait. Please extend this courtesy to other members by posting your starting time.

  6. Children under 13 years of age will not be permitted on the courts unless accompanied by an adult. The only exception will be when no adults are waiting to play. Courts must be relinquished immediately if adults arrive to play.

  7. No food is permitted inside the court fence. Persons not playing who are inside the courts, must sit on the benches provided. No person should cross or walk behind a court where play is in progress.

  8. Private lessons are available by appointment with the Tennis Pro and fees will be charged to the respective member’s account. Group lessons will be available for various age groups and degrees of skill. Fees will be charged to the respective member’s account at the last lesson. Group lesson schedules will be announced in the Club newsletter and will be posted at the courts.

  9. No children of members will be permitted to play in Adult Club Tournaments.

Attire

  1. All persons (members, sons, daughters, and guests) must wear proper tennis attire while playing on the tennis courts.
  2. Only proper tennis shoes may be worn on playing surface. No other type of shoe will be permitted.

Reservations

  1. Reservations for courts shall be made at the Tennis Pro Shop between the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day. All reservations shall be made for one hour, beginning on the hour. Reservations shall be made by members for use by members (adults), members and their guests, or members and their children. ALL RESERVATIONS WILL BE APPROVED BY THE TENNIS PRO. The clay courts will use a Court Reserve app for the 2021 season.
  2. Reservations for the courts SHALL NOT be made earlier than noon, two days prior to the playing date.
  3. If players holding reservations have not arrived by ten minutes after their reservation time, their reservation shall be forfeited to players waiting on a casual basis.
  4. When playing doubles, a group of four players cannot reserve a court for more than two hours.
  5. Courts must be relinquished promptly at the end of the reserved time unless there is no reservation for the ensuing period, or another court is vacant.

Guests

  1. All guests must be registered at the Tennis Pro Shop by a Club member. The prevailing guest fee will be charged to the member’s account. Guest fees will be posted.
  2. Guests may play the courts a total of five times a year.
  3. Guests may only play with a member adult or children of a member.
  4. Guests may not participate in Club Tournaments.

The Tennis Rules and Policies are subject to change as needed during the season, at the discretion of the Tennis Committee, Management, or Board of Directors. Changes to these rules will be published in all club communications.
